2. Paranormal News | Charity disco sparked UFO riddle
A CHARITY disco in memory of a little girl raised thousands of pounds for charity - and sparked a UFO search! The Sussex Express recieved a number of reports of a 'UFO' in Cross in Hand.
Lynnda Rose told us she had spotted lights moving in a circular motion at 10.30pm on November 16.
The report prompted calls from readers around the county who had also seen the 'spooky' lights.
However, one sharp eyed reader, Carole Smith from Maynards Green, had driven past Horam Village Hall and noticed a spotlight - she was certain this was the cause of the lights -and it seems she was right.
In search of the answer, Carole call eventually led the Express to Demelza Children's Hospice Services, a charity which cares for life-limited children and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South London.
Staff at Demelza confirmed there had been a party at the village hall that night to raise money for their charity and to remember one little girl.
Victoria Hendry died last year aged just 10.
Her mum, Jacquie, has committed a year to fundraising in her memory with the aim of raising £10,000 for Demelza James, which will culminate with her running in the London Marathon next April.
Supporting the hendry family are The Crazy Gang, who are organising several events throughout the year to help them in their money raising challenge.
One of those was a Skool Disco held at Horam Village Hall. Sarah Marsh from Demelza said: 'The spotlight that greeted all the 'Horam High' pupils was the source of the strange lights that appeared in the sky and have caused so much interest around the county.
'The evening raised over £4,000 thanks to the efforts of the Crazy Gang and the over-age pupils that were there, it was a quite remarkable achievement considering that Jacquie really only thought she'd raise around £1500.'
