(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.), no stranger to controversy, suggests that President Bush and his top aides knew about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in advance but did nothing to prevent them. A report in Friday's Washington Post says McKinney made the comments in a recent interview with a Berkeley, Calif., radio station. "We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on September 11th...What did this administration know and when did it know it, about the events of September 11th? Who else knew, and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered?...What do they have to hide?" The Post quotes McKinney as saying, "What is undeniable is that corporations close to the administration have directly benefited from the increased defense spending arising from the aftermath of September 11th ." She is calling for a "complete investigation." McKinney raised hackles last year, when she criticized New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for refusing a Saudi prince's check to a victims' compensation fund set up after Sept. 11. McKinney wrote a letter to the prince, asking him to give the money to poor blacks instead.
