I'm putting together my own personal collection of experiences ranging from ufo's, abductions, ect. to the paranormal to the cryptozoological.
I'll make threads in the apropriate sections.
So if you feel like sharing and you don't mind me collecting it, please share any experience you've had with crypto creatures or anything of the sort.

I'm only making this file for my own personal use, I won't disclose names or anything of that sort and I won't send any stories around the web so hopefully that will quell some of your fears about my intentions.

thanks to anyone who participates.

you can also pm me if you prefer

I've told this story the best it could be recalled on a few other Forums.

Some 15 years ago three of us traveled to Lake Moomaw just a few miles
shy of the West Virginia border in hopes of snagging some Lake Trout
and wall hanger Smallmouth Bass.

It was either late April or it could of been early May as we arrived to set
up camp at Morris Hill, a State CampGround up above the lake.

We had stopped in Covington for Ice, Beer, Steaks, Taters and other
such supplies needed fresh and beforehand as the rest came from home.

Camp was made while sipping on a bottle of Crown and soon supper
was on the grill then in our gullets. Ribeyes, Camp Taters and beans,
washed down with some smooth upland ale. After dining like wilderness
lordlings, the Pipe was passed and we engaged ourselves in
Drunken Camp Poker, wagering pocket change with fire illuminated
faces and bluffs.

One of our party we called the Golden Bear had not took the pipe in over
8 years due to testing at his job, but once the booze lifted his inhibitions
somewhat he took up the carved steatite bowl and went at it with wild
passion. He was unable to play cards at a certain point and ambled over
to the fire then let out this weird paleolithic primal scream/howl...

From the next ridge under that fullmoon night, we heard his call answered.

More to come....

Not really.

There was only another campsite in use at Morris Hill, some old Kats
down the way, in the other direction from that ridge where the call came
from. Down on the lake where the other campsites were there were only
a few Anglers tenting. Upon that ridge where the weird call came from
there was no campgrounds and I wouldn't think any humans would be up
on the Mountain that time of night.

and my thanks for your extension of welcome

Mighty words for up until now a mellow camping tale. I don't know.

At first the other two of us dicussed the possibility of an echo, and 'Flip'
said "Too long in between howls, too much time" A few seconds later we
both screamed into the night, up towards the ridge. No echo. No return
call, and with that The Golden Bear took up our steatite pipe with BicFlame,
then ambled out of camp heading downhill through brush and web.

"Better build up the fire so he can find his way back"

We went on abit concerning the lofty condition of our comrade's spirit, and
the fact he was wandering around on the side of a small mountain, or
perhaps a tall hill. We kind of dismissed any scary **it about the answering
howl/sream as being nothing but night creature's spring talk or maybe
a feral hair lipped dog or cat. Owls and Foxes can make some pretty strange
sounds as well.

We pulled the cork and moved into nightcaps. We found a rock station on
the radio only to have it fade out then come back in as a BrimStone
Buzz Kill broadcasted sermon coming out of West Virginia - damning
Rock and Roll along with all other Heathens to hell with no hope of
salvation through change. We inserted Black Sabbath's Master of Reality
tape into the Boom Box as a gesture of steadfast attitude.

Maybe Golden Bear would hear the music...

After a few pulls on the bottle and side A of the casette tape finishing up,
our wandering friend stumbled into camp from another direction from which
he departed, then attempted to crawled into the tent without unzipping the
doorflap. We assisted him and he hit the flooring dropping off into a coma-like
slumber.

It was time to fall out as we wanted to get down to both Lake and below
the dam into the Jackson River to try both our luck and Fishing Medicine.
There was abit of coolness in the air so we hunkered down in sleepingbags
after covering the Snorring Bear up. I've camped with this Kat before and
had foreshight enough to pack some foam earplugs. A bellowing Yak
could be considered sweet music compared with what this guy bestowed
into the night air.

Don't really know how long I'd been sleeping after being shook into sudden
wakefulness and hearing Flip's croaking whisper -

"Something's out there man"

What ?

"Something big, listen"

Sure enough I heard something moving about a short distance from the
tent. Not the pitter-patter of a coon, possum, or skunk. My first thought -
Bear. This was Blackbear country so we locked up our foodstuff in
the Bronco. what ever it was, it was now messing with the clean cookware
atop the campsite's picnic table, then we heard what sounded like our grill
being knocked over and fumbled with, followed by movement close to the
tent that faded away after a minute or two.

"I'm tired of being scared !" Plus I had to piss real bad, so Flip and I grabbed
our weapons and unzipped the flap then chanced sticking heads out in time
to see something large, upright and dark move upwards into the brush
across the camproad.

We exited the tent and experienced a foul smell like a cross between
rotten cabbage and wet hound. Coleman lamps were on and a new fire
made, then checked the campsite. Sure enough the grill was down and
pots/pans scattered. More strange a few of the dew cover fastners on
the tent had been unhooked. A Blackbear has not the dexterity with it's
paws to accomplish such a feat.

A gravel camproad along with pine needle and leaf litter, no spoor could
be found as Dawn's first good light provide better viewing.

Well the rest of the fishing trip went off without a big hitch. We caught plenty
of fish before I broke the Bear's lucky fishing rod by closing the Bronco's
back hatch door on it. He never went on another trip after that.

Hey is this mr_headshot still here or did I write all of this for nothing ?

Anyway that was my BigFoot encounter, but have other accounts of
strange creatures here in Virginia.

Indeed good sir, I'm still here.

Very nice telling of your story, thanks. I'll keep it for sure. Weather it's verifyable or not is of no concern to me honestly it's just a really cool story Cool

Just an account mr_headshot, and I'm almost sure there has to others. Certainly those who may of had one of those - 'What the phuck was that' moments perhaps while driving down a dark road or taking the garbage out at night. Like the time I rounded a bend in the road during my early Dawn commute to work. Where a brackish creek entered the wide York River, before going over the bridge there was what appeared to be a huge musteline sporting a large bushy tail. The closest critter I could compare it to would be a African Civet. Could of been a big Fisher or Martin, but they are not native to my location.

A mutant Mink or Skunk perhaps ?

Some would say that our Morris Hill Campground experience was the product of substance induced sillyness, a pipe dream or a big hairy pink Mastodon, but we did not get that carried away with the booze and grass that night compared to other camping/fishing trips into the uplands.

In Big Meadows we got 'fall down drunk' after being mugged by a Professional Skunk.

There has to be other such accounts.
