Can someone help me please; American politics are very confusing for non-Americans. You have the left, the right the centre-left/right (sure I’ve heard that one that one) and of course the main parties you hear, Republicans, Democratic and the liberals; what are they, who votes for them (rich/poor party) and what do they want.
In the U.K it’s simple, you have the party no one takes seriously, the one no one will vote for because they’ve destroyed us, and then there predecessor who destroyed us last time.
Can someone simplify it for me?
Don’t shout at me for my ignorance. |

You simplify the situation in the U.K.
There is the party that is trying to emulate its predecessor in destruction.
There is the party that is pretending to be the party no one takes seriously.
You are just about right about the others who seem to be incapable of being taken seriously.
Ah well, here comes the new boss. |

I´ts not that difficult really.
Republicans = Wants the old ways to be in power and would kill anyone to achieve that goal and other worse things.
Rich and conservative people vote for this party.
Democrats = Wants to be more civilized although they lack the balls to do most things they want to do and they have to get their hands a bit dirty to achieve that.
Poor and liberals vote for this party.
Fight the dirt with dirt.
Although one note when it comes to both sides...
Both sides lies equally to the people, making people more stupid and scared...
That´s what American policy is really. |

| Its not really all that difficult to understand American politics. It doesn't matter what party they belong to, or how rich or poor they might be. The only thing you have to remember about American politics is, they are all liars. They will promise anything to get into office, after they are in, they do as little as possible for as much money as possible and you will never see the results of any of their campaign promises. |

I tend to agree with Halfabo's characterization.
Of note, it does very much matter how rich, as only the rich govern. Democrats and Republicans are the two cheeks of the ass sometimes referred to as the business party. |

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.

You are lucky to be able to forget that bunch.
The Scots Nats seem to be doing rather well though. |

Yes, I’d vote for them. (Only to get rid of them so we could really crush them at the rugby then). |

Very little chance in England though. |

No hope what so ever. It would be quite funny to see the Scots win when we have a Scottish P.M.
What would have been even better though, would have been having a general election just after Brown came into power and the Scottish Nats winning then; nine years he’d have waited to get into #10, then his own country gets independence so he couldn’t become the P.M. |
