Internet Explorer 7... I just installed it and now when I use my scroll wheel on the mouse (which I always do), it doesn't scroll quickly... it inches down the screen very very very slowly. Not only that but I can't make it stop trying to inch down the screen until it finally catches up with the number of "clicks" I scrolled down using the wheel. For every "click" of my scroll wheel in either direction, it counts as 5 painfully slow movements in that direction, in the website window. I can of course juse the scroll tool but I shouldn't have to. I"ve lost a very convenient feature, and I shouldn't have to modify my behavior just because IE 7 decided to make something not work that worked fine before.
I went to IE internet options and played with the "smooth scrolling" feature which did not help at all. I went to my logitech mouse setup and messed with the scroll settings and nothing.
Any ideas? |

I have always stayed a least a month or so behind the curve so that I don't get bitten by bugs. This is the first time I've not done that... partly because Microsoft took me to the IE7 download page as soon as I opened my browser... just begging me to try it out. And I said to myself, "Surely MS isn't so stupid that they would aggressively request my download, unless they worked out all the kinks first?" Oh well, so much for that.
I did a Google search and voila... I'm not alone.... I saw messages in a forum like this:
"Same problem here and it is driving me looney too. I checked the control panel and set the scroll wheel to one line per click and this has had no change. Basically for me, one click equals 5 slow scrolls on the IE7 screen. I am not having this problem with any other application and did not see this in IE6. I am ready to go back to IE 6 just because of this problem."
And this:
"I phoned Microsoft and they said that the IE7 version (not beta) will be available on the 18th of this month - this Wednesday. I went back to IE6 until then. They said all the bugs should be worked out by then for the new version. Also she said to reinstall the software for your mouse and see if that helps. Hope this helps. I think I will wait a few months before installing IE7 to make sure all the bugs are out." |

There are sites that are inaccessible without IE. I'm not aware of any sites that require Firefox. |

| I'm not aware of a site that requires either... FireFox is my [new] favourite web browser, as of about 1 month ago. |

Hey Tom for what it's worth. I downloaded IE7 several weeks ago and haven't had a single problem. I've only noticed some minor changes in how things are done. I'm totally HP hardware. Just what you didn't want to hear. |

I've done some more research and it apparently affected only those of us who have logitech mouse software and use our mouse wheel to scroll while browsing.
I uninstalled the software and am just using the XP drivers, which solved my scroll problem, but logitech software allowed me to program the scroll wheel *click* to mean *double click* which I really got used to. XP doesn't have that feature so I lost it. |

There are also problems trying to ftp with I.E 7.
Btw, FTPing works flawlessly with Firefox 2.0.
Gotta love Microsoft. |
