I enjoy the way Abian thinks. I don't know that I think it's a good idea to rush out and start blowing up our Moon? But I'd be willing to entertain more knowledge on the subject. He thinks big! And I like the idea of rearranging our solar system with the goal of increasing human and other living things habitat.

NOT SURRENDERING TO NATURAL SELECTION
Alexander Abian

Evolutionary biologist and Harvard professor, Stephen I.Gould's October 15-th 8 pm lecture consisted in an exuberant exaltation and glorification of bacteria. In a metaphysical ecstasy, Gould maintained that "this is the age of bacteria, it has always been and it will always be". Gould would have shown more insight and perception by saying, for instance, that "this is the age of electrons, protons and neutrons, it has always been and perhaps it will always be". After all bacteria, as everything else, are made of electrons, protons and neutrons. But this is beside the point.

In a fanatic incantation, Gould repeatedly emphasized the omnipotence of bacteria and the insignificance of humans in the affairs of the Planet Earth. "Humans are just a geological eye-blink", stated Gould. I should say, yes, an eye-blink which, however, triggered and ignited the miracle of all miracles the "genius of the human brain". A miracle that is in the process of liberating us from the indoctrinations of Darwin and other evolutionists by rendering obsolete our surrendering to the whims of the Natural Selection. In fact, we will select the future course of events not only on the planet Earth but also on the entire Solar System and even on the entire Cosmos.

By means of unprecedented technological and scientific feats, we humans have defied gravity, and very often have defied even imminent death itself.

Contrary to Gould's belief, we have all the reasons to believe that we are more powerful than we think and not only in terms of this planet but even in terms of the Cosmos.

We are unique and the most intelligent beings in the entire Cosmos. Who else could have created masterpieces such as Kreutzer Sonatas, Rasumovski's and late quartets of Beethoven, Partitas and Masses of Bach and above all the Decimal Representation of the Real Numbers ?! Who else ?!

The human genius not only is not going to surrender to bacteria but it will alter the Cosmos - it will rearrange the entire Solar System and select a much healthier, much more intelligent and much safer cosmic parameters for the Planet Earth and for other planets that we will reorbit and populate.

In short, it is time to reject the further acceptance of Darwinian:

"the preservation of favored species by means of natural selection "
and instead accept:

"the preservation of humans by means of rational alteration of Cosmos "

Blowing up the moon is a very very bad thing. Without a moon, there will be no longer a tug of war between the moon and our tectonic plates, and our metallic core. This will result in an other ice age.

Yeah I have a lot of problems with blowing things up until I know exactly what the result will be. And Also, What the chance of messing it up and like NASA says: 'a chunk of moon hits the earth' causing an ice age.

The ice age senario would depend on a number of factors that at this point could not be predicted with any accuracy.

Anyway he's thinking big and way out of the box. And someday! Who knows what we'll be capable of?

Abian was so cool. I could never figure out if he was actually serious, or just playing around. I liked his mass-time equivalence theories, and the "Big Suck" theory of cosmology (as opposed to the "Big Bang." He was an interesting fellow, indeed.

I just found him myself and haven't read anything except what I posted here.

What do you mean "actually serious or just playing around"? I'm not a physisist and his theories don't sound way out of reality to me. Is there a simple explanation as to why you can't be certain that he's serious?

Mostly, I wasn't sure about his "blowing up the moon" plan. His "Big Suck" theory is also a little silly if you read it. You just could never tell if he was serious about what he was saying or not. The Time=Mass thing was never accepted by mainstream science, and his "proof" is laughable in some places.

I think you might be right in your estimate of his intentions, though. I think he maybe wanted people to think about the big picture of the survival of our species and beyond petty differences and conflicts. Big ideas like engineering the solar system to make it safer and more livable for humanity, etc. He may not have been exactly serious about us doing precisely that, but if his intent was to get people thinking big I can understand that.

Dangermite,

I'll have to read up on his theories. But I probably won't be able to separate the silly parts from the not silly parts. I'm still having trouble with the Cat in the Box thing.

Schrodinger's Cat, Okie? Yeah, that's a tough one to wrap one's brain around. Well, I thin Abian kidded around, but as you say tried to drive home a message too. Think big about the problems that face humanity. He was a good guy. The world could use a few more Abians.
