Good morning everyone. Jack Harris here the host of Paranormal Radio. I just wanted to take some time to stop in and say hello to everyone.
It is great to be part of the BVRN Network. I personally think what John is putting together has been long needed in the area of paranormal talk radio, and I believe it will a great resource.
To tell all of you a bit about Paranormal Radio it goes back to the early 90's when the program started in the upper midwest. A small radio station with one of the worst studios I had ever been in but me and my co-host at the time made due. They put us on the midnight till 4am slot and because BW and I were the only ones that were ever in the studio, we just took ownership of the place and made it ours. The station would syndicate other program through the USA radio network so we were the only local talk show hosts in the area.
Pay was almost non existent and the program was not even about the paranormal at the time. Occasionally BW would show up an hour or so in to the program and for a while there "Had a few" in him. Made for an interesting broadcast to say the least.
One night we started talking about a UFO that was supposedly seen in the area a few nights before, we got to talking about it on the air. And me, being a big UFO person all my life I had a blast talking with the people calling in to tell us what they saw in the sky just a few nights back.
From there, it was a nightly topic. Bouncing around from discussing UFOs to Ghostly encounters and even Y2K. We ran with it all.
Then one day I am watching the news and they do a story about a guy in his teens that started a website. He was requesting FOIA docs on subjects like UFO's, Kennedy Assassination and more. Scanning them in and posting them on the website for everyone to read. I remember the news person saying that the owner of this website had all the three letter agencies making contact to find out WHY he wanted these documents. The website name? "The Black Vault"
That was it, I had to go see it. Logged on, (You have mail*) and took a look at The Black Vault. From that point this website became a valued resource for the programs early days.
Paranormal Radio became a very popular local late night talk show that got a big following. I even had a chance to do some work with the legendary radio guy Jack Daniels. JD was Art Bells co-host way back in the day when Art was on a station in NV. The early days. Learned some great stuff from him. But like all things it came to an end. In the late 90's after several years on the air, the owners of the station sold off. And it was turned in to a music station. Oh well. I hung up the headphones, and moved to Texas to do something different for a while.
After moving from Texas to Atlanta and doing some behind the scenes stuff with radio, I was approached with the opportunity to bring back Paranormal Radio. I had been missing it over the years so I said yes. I made some calls to some people, talked with a great guy that was Clark Howards program manager for 20 years, and picked his brain for advice. He listened to a few of my test broadcasts and provided me with the plan of action, and soon Paranormal Radio was back on the airwaves.
There is a great number of people behind the program. Jimmy Baxter was my starting producer and new to that area of radio. I got to know him, got him up to speed as to the direction and style I wanted the program to go, and he hit the ground running. Then after some things have played out and his duties changed, we brought in Selene Spencer. She has a great relationship with the guests and does all the scheduling for the program.
Then there is Jake our production guru. He was part of the program long back in the day when we started, and after being on radio stations all over the country came on board to run our audio production department. Sense then we have taken on 24 staff members that help with everything from the website, to the message board to engineering. And it hasn't slowed yet.
Back in July the main studio was moved from Atlanta GA back to the area I moved from in Texas. Just a few miles outside of Stephenville Texas.
It was a big wild move but the resources at our disposal here in Texas we just couldn't get in Atlanta. So here we are.
Back in Jan when Stephenville was a bright glowing pin on the map I was able to bring in one of the witnesses of the UFO that was seen, and he dropped a few bombs of information that no one knew at the time about the UFO. Because of what was said, I got on the phone the next day to a good friend of mine, Jose Escamilla and after connecting him to the folks in Stephenville. He got started and helped make the stephenvillelights.com site for them.
So here we are today. Proud to be a member of The Black Vault. Feel free to stop in at our site and say hello. We are really relaxed around here, and we don't take things too seriously (Mostly ourself). But we have some great content providers like Bill Knell, (The UFO Guy), Jim Berkland and Cal Orey (Predicting Earthquakes), Psychic Kelly Wallace and well worth the reads.
Speaking of Bill Knell, I figure now would be a great time to announce that Bill is going to be the stand in host for Paranormal Radio from time to time. Doing this program 5 nights a week every week, sometimes I need some time off. So we asked Bill to take the helm when that is needed, and he was more then happy to do so. I have been working on some Narration for Jose Escamillas next film "Moon Rising" and am looking forward to seeing the release of it. It is going to raise some eyebrows indeed.
We have about a year of archives that we stream 24 hours a day. All but the live show times that is 9PM Eastern - Midnight. And we are uploading the best programs to BVRN. We do not have on demand archive access anywhere on our site, and only our Friday shows can be found in iTunes, so the BVRN network has esclusive access to the best of Paranormal Radio for on demand podcasts.
We will keep everyone up to date as to what is coming up, whos going to be on, and what is going to be added to BVRN here in the messageboard.
Now that I have written a book here. It is time to get some sleep. |
